Dynamical stall and stall dynamics
We present experimental results on the flow around wing profiles around the stall angles. On a curved airfoil in an anechoic wind tunnel, we study the noise generated by the flow for different angles of attack. Using a Spectral Proper orthogonal Decomposition analysis correlated to velocity measurements by time-resolved particle image velocimetry, we identify the aerodynamic structures responsible for the radiated sound. On a thick symmetrical profile, we highlight a bi-stability phenomenon for which we propose a statistical analysis with an extreme event formalism.
