Surfzone flow and sediment transport processes below irregular breaking waves

This study focuses on the nearbed flow and particle transport processes below irregular breaking waves in well controlled wave channel conditions (no longshore currents nor tidal effects). For this purpose, mobile bed experiments are conducted in the LEGI wave channel using novel acoustic techniques developed within the HydralabIII-SANDS project (http://www.hydralab.eu/). High resolution 2D-velocity profiling and sediment concentration are performed for the analysis of mean flow, turbulence structure and cross-shore sediment transport.
